2019 Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence now open

Monday, August 5, 2019

Entries are open for the 2019 Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence. Sponsored by Canadian Architect, the national awards pay homage to project designs across the country and are open to all architects registered in Canada, Canadian architectural graduates for buildings designed in Canada and internationally, and foreign architects who have partnered with a Canadian-registered firm.

This is the 52nd year for the Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence. The program was launched in 1967 to recognize projects in the design stage and has since thrust many unique Canadian projects into the industry’s spotlight. Last year’s winners include the Windermere Fire Station 31 (Edmonton, Alberta), the Old Post Office (Galt, Ontario), The Octagon (Toronto, Ontario), and The Arbour (Toronto, Ontario).

This year’s awards include a new category, the Canadian Architect Photo Award of Excellence. It challenges professional and amateur architectural photographers to submit an image that best conveys the “big picture” of a project.

The deadline for this year’s Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence submissions is Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 11:59 PM (PST). Judging will take place in October and winners will be featured by Canadian Architect. To be eligible, projects must be in the design stage, scheduled for construction, or under construction but not substantially complete by September 12, 2019.
