Government building earns LEED Platinum
The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) recently designated a seven-storey provincial government building in Peterborough, Ont. as LEED Platinum in the Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (EBOM) category. The facility is Canada’s first government building to receive the status.

$122.8-mil community centre opens in Clareview
A new 57,745-square-foot community centre has opened in Clareview, Edmonton. The $122.8-million project was financed by the City of Edmonton ($104.3-million) and the Government of Alberta ($18.5-million), through its Municipal Sustainability Initiative. T.O. convention centre earns LEED Gold
In the same week, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) received a LEED Gold certification from the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) and a Sustainable Tourism Award from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO). The LEED Gold certification was achieved for the MTCC’s south building in the Existing Building: Operations & Maintenance category, making the facility one of the first Canadian convention centres to earn the recognition.
