Mississauga’s Square One shopping and entertainment centre has opened a newly renovated and expanded North side wing. The $60-million renovation marks the end of the second phase of a $480 million multi-phase redevelopment plan. Once fully complete, the redevelopment will increase the mall’s retail space by 2.1 million square feet.

The expanded wing encompasses an additional 78,000 square feet of retail space, bringing the development’s existing footprint to 1.8 million square feet. It also includes Ontario’s largest Forever 21 store, at 35,000 square feet, a Shoppers Drug Mart and a Moxie’s Grill & Bar.

“The significant investment in this renovation will elevate the shopper experience for the 24 million visitors we draw every year,” says Greg Taylor, General Manager, Square One, Oxford Properties Group, which jointly owns Square One with Alberta Investment Management Corp.

The renovation also includes an attractive architectural design, green space, water fountain and enhanced walkability. The entrance is located steps from the Mississauga Transitway and Square One GO station.

“What we’re doing at Square One expresses our vision for what the rest of our 11 shopping centres in Canada could look like,” says Michael Kitt, Executive Vice-President at Oxford Properties Group. “Our vision for Square One is for it to be the North American model for world-class mixed use development.”
