A new 8,945-square-foot nursing facility has entered construction in Grand Rapids, Man. The development, which will include three exam rooms, a diagnostic services area, a two-stretcher trauma room and offices for staff, will provide Grand Rapids residents and the Misipawistik Cree Nation with a range of health care services.

“We know modern facilities ensure health-care providers are able to offer quality care to the people in their communities,” says Sharon Blady, Manitoba’s Health Minister. “This nursing station will ensure a number of health-care services will be available to meet the needs of area residents including primary care and chronic disease services.”

The new facility will replace an existing building that was constructed in 1983 and will be built by Con-Pro Industries. In addition to the aforementioned features, the station will also include a publicly-accessible multi-purpose room and community kitchen equipped with Telehealth capabilities.

Construction of the project is slated for completion in 2016.
