Metrolinx has awarded the contract for the new Hamilton GO Station at 353 James St. N. The station, which will add train trips to and from Hamilton along the Lakeshore line, will enter construction later this spring.

“Expanding services to Hamilton is a key deliverable for Metrolinx, and building a second GO station in the city demonstrates how Metrolinx is connecting the GTHA,” says Bruce McCuaig, president and CEO of Metrolinx. “A new GO Station at James Street North will provide increased GO service in 2015 and is a foundational step to Metrolinx providing two-way all-day service to Hamilton.”

The new GO Station will connect to a nearby plaza and will include 300 parking spaces in a multi-level lot, new bus bays, a pick-up and drop-off zone and pedestrian walkways.

Kenaidan Contracting Limited will oversee the development of the $44 million facility.

The station is expected to be open in 2015.
