Canadian interior design firm Figure3 was recognized at the 2014 EuroShop Retail Design Awards for its La Maison Simons design concept at the West Edmonton Mall.
The awards, presented in Germany on Feb. 16, 2014, recognized the store as one of the world’s three best retail stores for 2013.
The West Edmonton Mall location is the first La Maison Simons store to be developed outside of Quebec. Spanning 10,684 square feet, it includes a variety of digital features including tablets and a “Photostar” booth for social media sharing.
Other award-winning design elements include:
- Custom fitting room experiences for shoppers
- Wood-screened areas in the women’s department
- A canopy of crystalline columns inspired by the aurora borealis
- A 9-metre cube of glass integrated into the building’s exterior
“To represent Canadian design on this level feels incredible,” says Chris Wright, principal at Figure3. “We are thrilled to be a 100 per cent Canadian firm working with an iconic Canadian retailer. This award brings international attention to the amazing design work coming out of Canada.”
Figure3 is Toronto’s largest multi-disciplinary design firm. They are the first Canadian firm to be recognized for the top design award at the EuroShop Retail Design Awards.
