Trillium Health Partners’ Credit Valley Hospital will benefit from an Ontario investment of up to $117.74 million to redevelop 187,000 square feet of existing hospital space. Walsh Canada has been awarded a fixed-price contract by Infrastructure Ontario and Trillium Health Partners to build and finance the project.

The renovation will expand the hospital’s emergency department to more than double its current size and will include new paediatric and mental health treatment areas, 22 new treatment bays and 16 temporary treatment bays for use during construction. It will also include an expanded surgical and peri-operative suite; two new operating rooms and post-anaesthetic care spaces; an expanded critical care unit; and an expanded diagnostic imaging department with state-of-the-art equipment. The renovations are expected to be completed in spring 2018.

“Today marks an important milestone in the redevelopment of Trillium Health Partners’ Credit Valley Hospital site. Once the project is completed, the Credit Valley Hospital will provide patients in Mississauga with better access to emergency and critical care services, close to home,” said Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, in a press release.

This investment is part of Ontario’s plan to devote more than $130 billion over 10 years to improving public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, transit, hospitals and schools, supporting approximately 110,000 jobs per year in construction and related industries.
