Prioritize grout: Grout is porous and can absorb the smells and material in the restroom. Applying grout sealer is a preventative measure that can help protect the floor, while acting acts as a shield, forcing liquids to bead on top of the surface so they can be easily wiped away during routine maintenance.
Protect the floor: Preventing liquids from hitting the floor is another way to mitigate bacteria and odour buildup. Use matting to collect any moisture, changing them out regularly to keep the restroom fresh and clean.
Manage drainage: If the restroom floor drains have dried out, sewer gas can back up into the restroom, causing unappealing odours to spread. For a proactive approach, pour water or specialized enzyme solutions into floor drains to keep the P-trap seals filled and stop the gas from being produced.
