The Concord apartment, Concord Pacific’s latest multi-family development in Calgary, aims to be the best engineered flood and emergency prepared residential building ever designed in the country.
Located along the Bow River, the rental community is designed in response to the massive flooding that devastated parts of Alberta in 2013.
The luxury building’s infrastructure, designed by Associated Engineering, includes:
- A design engineered to withstand flooding twice as significant as the flooding of 2013;
- A perimeter system including secant piles that surround the foundation;
- Above-grade fortification walls with floodgates for pedestrians;
- Waterproof foundation with self-sealing capabilities to prevent underground water seepage;
- Storm water backup prevention management; and
- Emergency backup power for building and suite systems.

The Concord will enter construction in spring 2015 and is scheduled for completion in October 2017.
