Affordable seniors housing planned for Alberta

A 62-unit affordable seniors housing facility in Innisfail, Alta. will be demolished to make way for a new and improved building, slated for completion in 2018. The $17.6-million development, known as Autumn Glen Lodge, will contain 60 affordable units, 30 of which will be reserved for seniors.

The project is jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments, through the extension to Alberta’s Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement (IAH).

“We know there is a direct connection between having safe, stable housing and a senior’s overall well-being,” says Kerry Towle, MLA for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake. “Our commitment is to build quality accommodation options that meet a variety of needs. This investment helps ensure seniors can stay in their communities, close to family, friends and neighbours.”
