Walmart Canada has announced plans to add 35 new supercentre projects to its Canadian portfolio in 2014. The store developments, which will represent an investment of over $376 million, are scheduled to be completed by January 2015.

In addition to the new locations, Walmart Canada also has plans to expand, remodel and relocate several existing stores. Plans for the growth of their distribution network and e-commerce operation are also underway.

The completion of the new locations will bring the company’s total Canadian store count to 395, including 282 supercentres and 131 discount stores.

“Customers in every region of Canada are looking to save money on their entire list of shopping needs,” says Shelley Broader, Walmart Canada’s president and CEO.  “Delivering on our commitment to help lower the cost of living is our top priority, and our growing network of supercentres and our expanding walmart.ca offering enable us to do just that.”

The expansion is expected to allow for the creation of 7,500 jobs over the course of 2014. New supercentre locations will be announced as development plans are finalized.
