Teknion Corp. was recognized at the 2013 Green Good Design competition for its Interpret desking system and Optos Low profile architectural wall. Teknion was the only contract furniture company to receive an award from the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

Interpret is a contemporary benching and desking system that is meant to work for any person in any workspace. Many design refinements have recently been made to the system, including new and broad planning applications that go beyond traditional benching and desking capabilities. To meet the requirements of today’s mobile workers, new formats with a distinctive metal storage system and associated accessories collection have been added. New casual screens and an extensive colour and finish program round out the enhancements.
Optos Low Profile walls provide unparalleled access to daylight in interior spaces, offer acoustic privacy and create space division. The structure is minimal, and sophisticated rectilinear profiles blend harmoniously with modern interior architecture. It is ideal for creating private offices and storefront planning, enclaves, boardrooms and casual lounge surrounds.
This year’s Green Good Design competition received hundreds of submissions from more than 35 countries. A hundred winning new buildings and product designs were chosen from 18 countries. The winners represent a new design direction for an increased awareness to protect the world’s natural resources as well as a growing concern for a healthy ecology and human environment. Four prominent themes ran across each awarded new product and building design: conserve, reuse, retrofit and recycle.
