An affordable housing development, known as Pavillon André-Darveau, opened its doors to new tenants on July 15. Located in Saint-Marc-des-Carrières, the $4.2 million, 26-unit project offers semi-dependent seniors a place to live that is adapted to their needs. Funding for the building was provided by the Governments of Canada and Québec, the Municipality of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières and community partners.

“Thanks to this housing complex, members of this community can live in a friendly, comforting and safe environment,” says Michel Matte, Member of the National Assembly for Portneuf, on behalf of Pierre Moreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy. “And, the residents of the Pavillon André-Darveau have the opportunity to live in a stimulating environment, located near major amenities.”

In addition to amenities in the surrounding community, tenants will have access to multi-purpose room, housekeeping services and home care within the building itself.

Half of the tenants will be able to take advantage of the Rent Supplement program, thanks to additional financial support from the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) and the Municipality of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières. This program allows tenants to pay a rent similar to that for low-rental housing, which equates to approximately 25 per cent of their income.
