Two new purpose-built rental properties in Victoria, B.C., Herons Landing and The Ardea from EY Properties Ltd., have become the first multi-family buildings in the region to achieve Built Green platinum status.

The two apartment buildings, located at 275 Burnside Rd. W. (The Ardea) and 3185 Tillicum Rd. (Herons Landing), are comprised of 104 suites, ranging from studio apartments to three-bedroom units. Rental rates range from $850 for a bachelor suite to $1,700 for a three-bedroom apartment.

Sustainable building features include:

• Energy Star lighting and appliances
• Formaldehyde-free cabinetry
• In-floor heating
• LED motion sensor lighting in all common areas, including parking garages
• Heat recovery ventilation systems in suite bathrooms
• Insulated water lines to prevent heat loss
• Reflective white roofs
