Court appoints administrator for 27 Ontario condominium corporations

Wednesday, November 4, 2026

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has appointed Brian Antman as administrator of 27 condominium corporations following insolvency proceedings involving SIREG Management Inc., initiating a process to restore property management services and address outstanding building maintenance and safety concerns.

The appointments were made under Section 131 of Ontario’s Condominium Act, 1998, through court orders issued October 15 and 22, 2026. The initial order covered 24 condominium corporations, with three additional corporations placed under administration a week later.

In an October 27 update to unit owners, Antman outlined efforts to address urgent building conditions, including properties without functioning elevators, heating concerns, garbage accumulation and pest management issues. Contractors are being engaged to respond to these problems according to their urgency.

Finding replacement property management firms is another immediate priority. On October 27, the administrator issued 14 requests for proposals covering all 27 corporations to 18 licensed condominium management firms. Contract awards are expected around November 4, with management services scheduled to begin no later than November 16.

The contracts will include provisions allowing newly elected condominium boards to change or expand services once operations have stabilized.

Meanwhile, owners are preparing to elect temporary shadow boards for each corporation. Virtual election meetings are scheduled for November 11 and 12, with three director positions to be filled at each corporation.

The administration also involves restoring financial and insurance arrangements. Building insurance coverage for seven corporations has been extended to November 17, while new bank accounts are being established for all 27 corporations.

Antman has instructed owners to continue paying their monthly condominium fees through arrangements established by the administrator’s legal counsel rather than through SIREG or related companies.

The court-supervised process is intended to restore essential services and establish functioning governance arrangements across the affected properties, with further updates expected as management contracts are awarded and owner elections proceed.
