Reflections Condominium (Reflections), a 12-storey condo development in Toronto’s North York region, has earned a LEED Gold certification from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). A joint venture project by FRAM Building Group and Cadillac Fairview Corporation, the 106-unit residential development was recently completed and is one of a few condo developments in the Greater Toronto Area to receive the Gold certification.

“This achievement is a reflection of the developers’, board of directors’ and local community’s desire for sustainable construction practices,” says Fred Serrafero, Vice President of Development and Construction FRAM Building Group.

Reflections features several green and sustainable attributes, including:

  • Water-saving fixtures to reduce indoor water use by 30 per cent;
  • Landscape irrigation systems to reduce outdoor water use by 50 per cent;
  • The use of low-emitting paint, adhesives and carpets throughout the building’s interior;
  • 18 per cent of building materials derived from recycled content;
  • 90 per cent of construction waste material diverted from landfills;
  • An automated tri-sorter for recyclable and organic materials;
  • Reduction of exterior light pollution at night;
  • Enhanced mechanical system balancing and commissioning; and
  • Overall energy savings of 40 per cent over industry standards.

“We have long been committed to environmental sustainability and Reflections Condo was designed with green thinking built into every detail,” says Philip Ristevski, Manager of Development at Cadillac Fairview Corporation.
