The New York Stock Exchange recognized three decades of green building momentum across the United States and its capital markets as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) opened the day’s trading on June 8. On hand to ring the bell, the USGBC’s president and chief executive officer, Peter Templeton, noted the surging ranks of publicly traded companies now focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and leveraging the opportunities of a low-carbon economy.

“This event represents the collective impact of all our members, partners and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to drive sustainability and make a positive difference in communities worldwide,” he said. “We are proud of what we have achieved together and remain committed to our mission of creating a sustainable and regenerative future.”

The USGBC is marking its 30th anniversary this year.
