Air-source heat pumps have been added to the list of clean energy equipment that qualifies for Canada’s accelerated capital cost allowance program.

The buildings sector is tapped to be the flow-through recipient of more than $706 million in federal funding for research, policy development, pilot projects, preparedness studies and design work.

Vast share of funding will be drawn from the federal government’s National Housing Strategy, but Alberta has pledged to augment those dollars with proceeds from the sale of surplus or under-used real estate assets.
