Two projects in western Canada won silver at the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships.

The Northeast Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton, Alberta, won a silver award in the Project Financing category. The road is the largest P3 transaction in the province’s history, and along with the northwest and southeast sections, is the first Canadian ring road to use the P3 model.

The Single-Room Occupancy Renewal Initiative project on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside won a Social Housing Innovation silver award. It is the first social funding project to obtain funding through PPP Canada.

Other winners included the Confederation Line on the Ottawa Light Rail Construction project, which won a Transportation Innovation gold award, the Route 1 Gateway project in New Brunswick which won a gold Infrastructure award, and the OPP Modernization award, which won a silver Infrastructure award.

The P3 Champion of the Year is John M. Beck, chairman and CEO of Aecon Group Inc., who is described as an icon of the construction industry and a leader in both the corporate and non-profit worlds.
