A two-story Vancouver penthouse clocked in as Canada’s most expensive home sold in 2013. The condo, located atop the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel, was purchased for $25 million.
The 6,400-square-foot unit, located at 1038 Canada Pl., contains 14 rooms, including four bathrooms and three bedrooms. The owners also have access to a private rooftop terrace overlooking Vancouver’s Coal Harbour and the North Shore mountains.
The sale was a drop in the water during a lucrative year from the Greater Vancouver Area’s luxury real esate market according to a report from Re/Max. The region experienced the largest year-over-year gains when compared with other Canadian metros.
The condo sold during the spring, and was on the market for 650 days. It was originally listed for $28.8 million, according to a report from CBC News. The new owners, who also purchased another unit in the building, will pay $68,000 per year in property taxes and $4,200 per month in condo fees.
The transaction broke records in the area, selling for the highest price ever on Vancouver’s Multiple Listing Service. The same property sold for $17 million in 2010.
