Montreal-based real estate developer, Samcon, has announced plans for a new condominium complex in the city’s western sector of Griffintown.

Located close to Montreal’s downtown core at 1705 William St., URB will be a seven-storey, 110-unit complex comprised of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites as well as two-storey units. The size of the units will range from 400 to 1,235 square feet. Most will have either a balcony, terrace or loggia.

“The diverse nature of our offering, with units priced from $159,900, will enable us to attract first-time buyers as well as families with children in search of a generous-sized condo in a distinctive setting,” says Samcon’s president and founder, Sam Scalia.

Designed by Groupe CHBA – IBI Inc., the L-shaped building will be clad mainly in red brick and reflect the style of industrial buildings that were once common in the area. Commercial space on the ground floor will provide street level access to the condo.

The project, estimated at $30 million, will include a number of eco-friendly components, including efficient water management, reduced light pollution, a partial green roof and the use of energy-efficient building materials.

Construction is set to begin in late 2014.
