The Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ) and the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) have announced the launch of a groundbreaking joint initiative: the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative.

This new initiative addresses the need for increased regulation of the interior design profession, along with a desire for a unified, strategic advocacy front. Both organizations are committed to protecting the integrity and standards of interior design, most importantly, the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

By combining resources, expertise, and networks, the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative will support the development and promotion of public policy that upholds rigorous professional standards and safeguards the public interest.

“IDC looks forward to collaborating with CIDQ on this initiative to help support provincial associations in their efforts to pursue increased regulation of the interior design profession in their jurisdictions,” said Trevor Kruse, IDC CEO.

The benefits of this collaboration will be made available to CIDQ member jurisdictions in Canada, offering them enhanced tools, strategic guidance, and coordinated support in their advocacy efforts.

The application period for participation in the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative will open in September 2025. More details, including eligibility criteria and application guidelines, will be shared in the coming weeks.
