Six winners were announced at the 2015 Alberta Steel Design Awards of Excellence gala held in Edmonton, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Alberta Design Awards. The awards are given out in several steel design categories, including Architectural, Engineering, Sustainability, Steel Edge, and Building Communities.
New this year is the Collaboration Award, which honours a steel design project team who demonstrate “value added” to the project through collaborative project delivery approaches throughout the design and/or construction process.
Three Edmonton projects were honoured this year including the Edmonton International Airport – Combined Office and Control Tower which won in the engineering category (pictured above).

Sustainability Award: Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre.
Collaboration Award: The Mosaic Centre for Conscious Community and Commerce
Architecture Award: Physical Activity and Wellness (PAW) Centre, University of Alberta
Steel Edge Award: Glacier Skywalk
Building Communities Award: Peace Wapiti Academy
