CAWIC recognizes Stephanie Morand

Monday, October 27, 2025

Stephanie Morand, EllisDon community engagement manager for the New Surrey Hospital and BC Cancer Centre projects, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) DEI Excellence Award.

The award honours individuals who champion inclusive practices, amplify underrepresented voices, and foster workplace cultures where everyone can thrive. As part of CAWIC’s broader Excellence Awards program, it highlights the importance of systemic change and celebrates those driving progress toward a more inclusive construction industry.

“I’m deeply honoured to receive this award,” said Morand. “It reflects the collective effort of so many people working to make construction more inclusive. I’m proud to be part of a team that believes in equity, visibility, and meaningful change.”

Morand’s leadership has been instrumental in bringing the principles of British Columbia’s Enhanced Inclusion and Development Agreement (EIDA) to life. Through equitable hiring, Indigenous engagement, and culturally grounded design, she has helped embed inclusive workforce development into major infrastructure projects. Her work ensures that community benefits are not just promised but delivered.

Beyond her project work, she serves as the co-chair and Vancouver Area Leader of PEACE, EllisDon’s employee-led 2SLGBTQ+ group. She leads local programming and has coordinated EllisDon’s participation in the Vancouver Pride Parade, organizing volunteers and representing the company’s commitment to inclusion on a national stage.

“Stephanie brings heart, strategy, and authenticity to her work with PEACE but most importantly, in everything she does outside of it,” said Jennifer Khan, vice president, Inclusive Diversity, EllisDon. “From organizing Pride events to mentoring new volunteers—and now leading 2SLGBTQ+ initiatives in the Vancouver area—her impact ensures EllisDon’s commitment to inclusion is lived out in meaningful, visible ways.”
