Study finds ideal sit-to-stand ratio for employees
A new laboratory-controlled study, funded by office furniture designer and manufacturer Teknion Corporation (Teknion), has found that employees who change positions throughout the workday are less likely to develop lower-back pain, cardiovascular disease and cancer than their co-workers. Teknion came to these conclusions based on research of sit-stand workstations and their health benefits.

U of Ottawa expands and updates Heart Institute
The University of Ottawa’s Heart Institute is undergoing an expansion to better meet the needs of community members and enhance technological services. The expansion will establish an additional 147,000 square feet of space, including a four-storey state-of-the-art clinical addition. The existing facility is also being redeveloped.

Phase one complete for Winnipeg health centre
Winnipeg’s Misericordia Health Centre is currently undergoing extensive renovations, upgrades and additions and phase one is now complete. The $43-million project, set to open in stages, includes the Buhler Eye Care Centre, PRIME program, and Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre. During phase one of construction, an existing facility, known as the Maryland South building, was demolished to make way for a two-storey complex housing the aforementioned programs and centres.
