Retrocom plans Golden Mile mall redevelopment

Friday, March 6, 2015

Retrocom Real Estate Investment Trust is planning a $30 million redevelopment of the Golden Mile Shopping Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan, along with the addition of a new 92,000-square-foot Real Canadian Superstore.

The central area of the mall, which will house the Real Canadian Superstore, is expected to open in mid-2017, with the final phase complete in spring 2018.  For now, construction will be doled out as tenants relocate.

“Golden Mile enjoys a great location and has been part of the Regina community for over 50 years,” noted Richard Michaeloff, president and chief executive officer of Retrocom. “Together with our recent renovations at Southland Mall, Retrocom’s reinvestment in the City of Regina will total approximately $50 million over the course of five years, solidifying our position in this growing market and achieving leasing efficiencies.”

Once complete, the mall will hold about 20,000 square feet of additional leaseable area and bring in several new national tenants in the space Extra Foods store currently occupies.
