Monday, September 28, 2015

Construction has begun at the future site of Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Outlet Collection Winnipeg, the first pure outlet mall in the province.

Ivanhoé Cambridge and its partners Harvard Development and Forster Projects were at the groundbreaking launch on September 25 to celebrate what will become more than 400,000 square feet of 100 popular outlet brands catering to all budgets.

Located within the northwest quadrant of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway, the more than $200 million venture is set to open in May 2017. The outlet will be anchor tenant in the new 117-acre “Seasons” development being built by Forster Projects and Harvard Developments.

“Not only are we bringing a new and exciting shopping experience to Winnipeg, we are also proud to invest in the creation of several hundred new jobs during and after construction,” said Paul Gleeson, executive vie-president of Global Development at Ivanhoé Cambridge.  “Outlet Collection Winnipeg will complement existing and future surrounding commercial development through attractive landscaping, intuitive wayfinding, comfortable public spaces and integrated public transit.”

Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be Ivanhoé Cambridge’s second pure outlet centre to be built following Outlet Collection at Niagara, which opened in May 2014. A third outlet centre is planned to open later at Edmonton International Airport in 2017.
