Commercial flooring giant Shaw Contract Group unveiled its new 5,500-square-foot showroom in Atlanta, Georgia, created to evoke the senses and inspire design professionals using the space.

The Perkins+Will designed showroom on 1555 Peachtree Street will serve as a merchandising backdrop for products and a place to host presentations, professional events and sales meetings.

“This space will become a hub for the design community,” says John Stephens, vice-president of marketing for Shaw Contract Group. “Certainly a place where they can experience all the flooring solutions from a global brand, but also a place to learn, connect and be inspired.”

Visual elements stimulate the senses and allow visitors to share a tactile experience with the products. A sculptural staircase, modeled after a carpet loom, ascends into a viewing platform, while an open-concept work area merges with storage walls.

A fibre installation, titled Sense of Sight, celebrates vibrant colors and emboldens designers to “color outside the lines.”

“Our team worked closely with Shaw Contract Group to create a lively and engaging experience that embodies the company’s reputation for being a design leader and innovator,” said Joyce Fownes, principal and Southeast Corporate Interiors practice leader for Perkins+Will. “The goal was to create a space that inspires and provokes the senses, while maximizing the use and flexibility of the showroom.”
