A number of Canadians took home awards at the 2013 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) annual conference, held June 22 to 26.
Fourteen people were honoured with the Exceptional Service Award, which recognizes industry members who have continued to serve ASHRAE “faithfully and with exemplary effort.” Canadians included:
- Dale Carter, president and CEO, DEC Engineering
- K. William “Bill” Dean, manager, National Research Council Canada
- George Menzies (retired)
Sixty-one members received the Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes members for freely giving their “time and talent to the society.” Canadians included:
- Dieter Bartel, energy specialist, Manitoba Hydro
- Hugh Crowther, executive vice-president, product management and technology, Price Mechanical Industrial
- Nadar “Jay” Jayaraman, special projects manager, Enbridge Inc.
- Robert McDowall (retired)
- Tim McGinn, principal, Dialog
- David Rasmussen, Canadian sales representative, Philip Doyle Manufacturing Inc.
Founded in 1894, ASHRAE has more than 50,000 members around the world. The organization focuses on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability.
