Thursday, November 7, 2013

A special report compiled by the Canadian Real Estate Wealth Magazine has revealed the top 100 neighbourhoods for investment in Canada. The list names the top micro markets set to lead the country in growth.

The top areas include neighbourhoods in both major cities and small towns, ranging from downtown St. John’s, N.L., and Bedford, Halifax, to Kitimat, B.C., and Cold Lake, Alta.

Eight of the top neighbourhoods set to lead growth in Canada are in B.C., while Alberta boasts 13 neighbourhoods. The list is based on statistics including population, average home price, capital growth and vacancy rate.

“As this report clearly shows, investment opportunities abound across Canada, both in bigger cities and smaller towns,” says Elton Ash, regional executive vice-president of RE/MAX of Western Canada. “No longer are the big cities dominating the real-estate investment landscape.”

The B.C. neighbourhoods poised to lead growth in Canada are: Castlegar; Fort St. John; the neighbourhoods of Colwood and Langford in Greater Victoria; Kitimat; Lynn Valley in North Vancouver; Whalley in Surrey; Terrace; and Grandview-Woodland in Vancouver.
