NRC restores online access to building codes

Monday, December 1, 2014

After a cyber-intrusion halted access to the National Research Council of Canada’s (NRC) codes and code guides online library, including national building, fire, plumbing, energy codes and related guides, the NRC announced that access has finally been restored.

With the news comes a pledge to upgrade efforts to rebuild a fresh IT infrastructure and NRC’s confirmation that security and protecting client confidentiality remains a top priority.

As the new infrastructure remains a work in progress, the NRC is unable to process new online subscriptions; however, current subscribers will be compensated with extensions.

For current one to five-year online subscription holders, subscriptions will be extended by eight months beyond a client’s original expiry date.

Ten-day online subscription holders will receive an extension until the end of December 2014.

Anyone having technical difficulty regaining access to his or her subscription, is asked to contact CodesTechSupportTechnique.CONST@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca
