The Southern Interior Construction Association in B.C. (SICA) has been awarded a $400,000 training contract (in the form of a shared cost arrangement) from the BC ministry of jobs, tourism and skills training and ministry. SICA is an ITA certified provider of skills training for the construction industry and will be delivering the ITA Road Builders and Heavy Construction course along with the Heavy Equipment Operator course targeting aboriginal youth in the Okanagan area.

The training program covers a period of roughly 16 weeks and includes theory, hands on training, and soft skills related to job searches increasing the participants’ likely hood of employment.

“This funding provides an opportunity to engage a segment of our population that often faces employment challenges,” says Bill Everitt, SICA’s CEO.
