Urbania 2, a new condominium development in Laval, Q.C., will focus on environmental sustainability and green building. Initially, the development will feature 212 condo units and 16 floors. However, once completed, it could include up to six buildings and 1,150 units.
The project, a collaborative effort between the Société de développement Urbania and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, will be situated on a 69,000 square foot lot, located just minutes from the Montmorency metro station and the Université de Montréal campus. Green features will include:
- Electric car charging stations;
- A green roof;
- Water-efficient plumbing fixtures; and
- A waste-sorting system.
Urbania 2 will offer future residents one- to three-bedroom condominiums, two-storey maisonettes and penthouse suites. Units will be geared to young families, single retirees and a range of other demographics. Owners can take advantage of the building’s interior courtyard, waterfall, walking trails, running paths, leisure space, gardens and playground. Bicycle racks and vehicles from Montreal car-sharing service, Communauto, will be available for use.
“This project is perfectly in line with our corporate values,” says Marco Viviani, Communauto’s director of development and public relations. “Offering access to Communauto’s services, public transit and shopping makes it easier for residents to adopt a green lifestyle.”
