The first-ever City of Vancouver Urban Design Awards were handed out at a ceremony on September 15, 2014, at VanDusen Botanical Garden. The projects represent the highest standards of architecture and urban design.
This year’s inaugural winners competed in nine different categories with the victors being selected by architectural experts Peter Wreglesworth, David Dove, Greg Bellerby and Joseph Fry.
“Our Urban Design Award recipients are excellent examples of how innovative and imaginative design complements Vancouver’s natural beauty,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. “Vancouver’s designers are now renowned across the globe, and their extraordinary work greatly enhances the vibrancy and livability of our city.”
Winners were chosen in nine categories, along with three special jury awards. The 2014 Vancouver Urban Design Award recipients are:
