The new Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon officially opened in June, 2014 and serves as a ‘home away from home’ for sick kids and their families. The facility can now hold up to 73 families comfortably each night, which is about 2,500 families annually.

Designed by Michael Green Architecture (MGA), the $31 million house is situated on the campus of BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. The 75,000 square foot house features an innovative wood structure, and is expected to achieve LEED Gold Plus certification. Features include a playground, sports court, game rooms, arts & crafts studio and a teens-only lounge.

Inform Contract worked closely with the architect to help source products that would allow families to feel at home and compliment the architectural design of the facility. Manufacturers that participated in this project include Herman Miller, Andreu World, Kasthall, Viccarbe, Frandsen Lighting, G Romano and Hay.

The new house is now the second largest in Canada. Almost half of the House’s $31 million construction budget came from the Province of British Columbia, at $13.375 million.
