The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada is attempting to gauge smart technology acumen within the industry. The association is asking commercial real estate and facility management practitioners to answer a short survey about adoption rates within their portfolios and their own comfort levels with various applications. Findings will be considered in priority-setting and the ongoing evolution of the BOMA BEST Smart benchmarking and certification program.
“Digital in buildings isn’t theoretical anymore. It’s already showing up in how you operate, what you’re expected to report, and how performance gets measured,” the prelude to the survey states. “What’s less clear is what actually helps, what’s useful, what’s noise, and what’s worth investing in.”
Survey respondents can provide input via 19 multiple choice questions that are meant to glean an overarching picture of the most prevalent technologies, how they contribute to operations, asset management and investment decision-making, their costs and paybacks, and barriers to implementation. As well, respondents are asked to assess the value of BOMA BEST Smart or other certification programs and indicate further resources that could be supportive.
Survey administrators estimate it should take seven minutes to complete.
