Wednesday, May 20, 2026

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies British Columbia (ACEC-BC) recognized the best in consulting engineering at its annual Awards for Engineering Excellence Gala.

This year’s awarded projects reflect the breadth of challenges engineers are being asked to address across the province: protecting communities from escalating natural hazards and restoring critical transportation infrastructure through innovative, collaborative delivery models.

McElhanney earned the top award with The Tank Hill Project – BC Highway Reinstatement Program receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Award and an Award of Excellence in Bridges. The company also took home an Award of Merit in Municipal & Civil Infrastructure for Cold Spring Creek Debris Flow Mitigation.

The Tank Hill project restored two primary transportation arteries in one of British Columbia’s most constrained and high-risk corridors. Through collaborative delivery, technical innovation, and climate-adaptive engineering, the project was completed under an accelerated schedule, exceeding targets across financial, social, and operational metrics. The overall success of the Alliance model has established a new benchmark for partnership-driven infrastructure delivery.
