Two Vancouver projects received special citations from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) at the 2013 Illumination Awards.

The restoration of the University of British Columbia’s Ladner Clock Tower, designed by Lorne Whitehead, Michele Mossman and Andrew Strang, won for a technically innovative approach to an energy savings retrofit solution.

The Scarlett Residence, by designer Galina Zbrizher of Total Lighting Solutions, won for elegant use of energy efficiency for a residence.

The IES handed out four Awards of Distinction, 18 Awards of Excellence, and seven Special Citations in four categories. The program recognizes individuals for professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design.
