Who would have thought that a gas station bathroom would be among the top-rated toilets in Canada? But an Alberta Shell station has made it to the final five in the 2013 Canada’s Best Restroom contest.

The full list of finalists are:

• Chop Steakhouse, Richmond, B.C.
• Steamworks Brew Pub in Gastown, Vancouver, B.C.
• Valleyview Shell Super Station, Valleyview, Alta.
• MoRoCo Chocolat, Toronto, Ont.
• Marché Restaurant, Toronto, Ont.

The contest was started by Cintas in 2010 to honour businesses across Canada that place hygiene and style at the top of their priority lists. Voting by the public takes place online at www.bestrestroom.com/canada through the end of November.

Last year’s contest winner was the Langley Street Loo in Vancouver.
