The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario  (ARIDO) has announced the winners of its annual awards program.

Sharon Martens of Calgary-based MartensGroup licensed interior design studio ltd. was honoured with the the Project of the Year for the law offices of Burnet, Duckworth and Palmer LLP. With this project, Martens demonstrated the clichés associated with law office design could be avoided. The law office conveys a progressive yet professional approach successfully befitting a top-tier law firm.

The three Awards of Excellence were given to Alex Chapman of UNION31 for ONE55 Cumberland, and Michel Arcand and Don Parker of IN8 Design Inc. for two projects: empty-nesters condo renovation and Entro.

Fifteen awards of merit were also handed out, including one to Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd. for the Esker Foundation Gallery.

Presented during a gala dinner Sept. 24, at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, the ARIDO Awards recognize excellence, innovation and creativity in interior design.
