The City of Toronto has opened a 17-bed behavioural support unit for individuals with dementia and other complex care needs.

The quality of life awaiting future residents within the country’s institutional-like care facilities is facing scrutiny as researchers closely examine how these spaces are being reimagined for the better.

Researchers from the University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia are working to create more dementia-friendly neighbourhoods.
