The Government of Ontario will fund $9,627,900 in new construction and renovations at Renfrew Victoria Hospital, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care announced in an April 9 news release. The goal of the project is to give local patients suffering from kidney disease faster access to dialysis services.

“The expansion and redevelopment of Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s dialysis programs will ensure patients with kidney disease continue to receive better access to the programs they need,” said Dr. Eric Hoskins, minister of health and long-term care. “Today’s announcement demonstrates our government’s commitment to putting patients first and connecting them with quality services in the community.”

The expanded, modernized space for dialysis services will be centrally located in the hospital and next to the regional renal dialysis service. The project will also deliver six new hemodialysis treatment stations; training clinics for home dialysis patients; and an expanded pharmacy, an emergency sleep room for doctors, and more office and storage space for the dialysis program.
