Ivanhoe Cambridge and the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) are partnering to develop an outlet mall near the airport.

The Outlet Collection at EIA, which will be part of the EIA’s Highway Commercial Project, will be built on approximately 45 acres of land. Located south of the airport, adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, the outlet will contain 350,000 square feet of retail.

“This project is an important step in the evolution of our new development program,” says Paul Gleeson, executive vice-president of development at Ivanhoe Cambridge. “With Vaughan Mills in Toronto and CrossIron Mills in Calgary successfully established, we have created the opportunity to evolve this value-offering into a pure outlet format for other dominant markets across Canada.”

The Edmonton development will be the second project under ‘The Outlet Collection’ brand. The first, The Outlet Collection at Niagara, will open in mid-May of 2014. Ivanhoe Cambridge and EIA are aiming for a fall 2016 opening. An announcement of full project details is expected in the first half of 2014, once both parties satisfy the mutual conditions of the agreement.
