Guildford Town Centre will celebrate its grand reopening Aug. 28.

Owned and managed by Ivanhoe Cambridge, the shopping centre embarked on a $280-million multi-phase expansion and redevelopment project beginning in June 2010. The upgrade will increase the centre’s gross leasing area from 980,000 to 1.2 million square feet, making it the largest regional shopping centre south of the Fraser River and B.C.’s second largest mall.

This is one of the largest shopping centre redevelopment projects in Canada. The expansion includes more than 70 new stores, a 1,034-seat food court with 16 restaurants, a new centre court with a glass enclosed elevator and water feature, a parkade with 1,800 new parking spots and a nearly 10,000-square-foot living wall on the exterior of the shopping centre – the biggest of its kind in North America

Located in Surrey, B.C., Guildford Town Centre was built in 1966. The grand reopening marks the second phase in the redevelopment project. The remainder of the project is expected to wrap up in fall 2014. The mall has remained open throughout the duration of the upgrade.
