Target Canada stores earn LEED certification

Monday, July 7, 2014

All 124 Target stores opened in Canada since 2013 have earned LEED certification. This was achieved through the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED Volume Program, which provides streamlining services in Canada and the United States.

“LEED certification of these 124 stores reinforces Target’s commitment to the environment, making Target a leader among Canadian retailers when it comes to sustainable buildings,” says Mark Schindele, president of Target Canada.

Target will also seek LEED certification for nine additional stores opening throughout the country in 2014.

“For Target, securing certification for 124 stores is truly extraordinary – we congratulate and commend them for their demonstrated commitment to creating healthier buildings and communities throughout Canada,” says  Rick Fedrizzi, president and CEO of the USGBC.
