Thursday, February 13, 2014

According to the latest Conference Board of Canada provincial outlook report, Alberta will have the fastest growing economy in 2014. Alberta has been the largest contributor to economic growth in Canada for three consecutive years, outpacing the much larger economies of Central Canada.

Buoyed by investment in the oil sands and a strong labour market, Alberta’s real gross domestic product (GDP) is forecast to expand by 3.4 per cent in 2014.

B.C. is expected to lead economic growth among the provinces in 2015, with a projected increase of 3.1 per cent. Strong gains in the primary sector, a rebound in construction and improved job creation will help lift B.C.’s real GDP by 2.7 per cent in 2014.

According to the report, most provinces across Canada will see improving economic growth in 2014 and 2015, with real GDP increases of 2.3 and 2.6 per cent, respectively.
