Slate Retail REIT has appointed Thomas Farley as chairman of its board of trustees.

Farley has 30 years of industry experience doubles as the chairman of the board of Brookfield Canada Office Properties.

“We are very pleased and honoured to have Tom join the board,” says CEO Blair Welch. “He brings broad industry knowledge and management expertise that will be valuable as we grow the REIT portfolio and strive to deliver long-term unit holder value.”

Farley’s areas of expertise include leasing, property operations and asset management. He has a long history with Brookfield and worked at the Toronto-based asset management company in many capacities. His previous job titles include CEO of Canadian commercial operations, senior vice-president of Western Canada operations, and most recently, president and global chief operating officer of Brookfield Office Properties.
