Toronto condo community enters third phase

River City, a new sustainable condominium community in Toronto’s West Don Lands neighbourhood, is now entering its third phase of development, known as RC3. Saucier + Perrotte Architectes, designer Graham Hill, landscape architect Claude Cormier and developer Urban Capital are collaborating on the unique project.

“River City phases one and two created a new architectural language and now, the third of the four-phase development pushes that daring design to dramatic heights,” said David Wex, Partner, Urban Capital. “Idiosyncratic and bold, River City 3 will become the signature building in an already eye-catching development in downtown’s fast-rising east end.”

Standing 29 storeys, the LEED Gold certified building will include 330 loft-style condos, a 2,000 square foot fitness facility, a common room with kitchen, reading room, hobby and crafts room, children’s play space, guest suite and lap pool. Its striking design includes cantilevered suites at varying lengths and heights.

RC3 is located close to restaurants, shops, public transit, playgrounds, the Don River trails and more. The entire community was the recipient of the BILD Best Design Award.

“The 29-storey tower is a continuity of the angular black volumes that give shape to the entire River City complex; this final, vertical volume is composed of the elements found on the site: angular crystalline minerals of black and white,” says Gilles Saucier of Saucier + Perrotte Architectes. “The tower conceptually erodes to symbolize this dual mineral nature: a solid black object inset with white diaphanous crystals.”
