Condominium sales have decreased in October, year-over-year, in the Montreal area while prices have grown, says the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (GMREB). According to data collected from Centris, Quebec’s real estate industry website for consumers, the area registered a six-per-cent increase in median condo prices and a four-per-cent decrease in condo sales.

“The median price of condominiums in the Montreal CMA increased by 6 per cent in October 2014 compared to the same period last year and registered its largest monthly increase since December 2012,” says GMREB Board of Directors Vice-President, Diane Ménard.

Based on data from Centris, total residential sales for all housing types decreased by one per cent from October of 2013 to 2,636 sales. This decline follows a seven-per-cent increase in September.
