A custom-built facility for R. Wales Canada, a manufacturer of processing equipment for the resource sector, is coming to Campbell Heights North—a fast-growing industrial hub in southeast Surrey, B.C.

The 114,000-square-foot industrial space, to be completed in 2016, will be a business product of Weir Canada Inc., following a recent joint venture between Beedie Development Group (BDG) and Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC).

The development will be built on 5.83 acres of a SCDC-owned business park, with 30,000 square feet added on for future expansion.

“Weir’s selection of Campbell Heights North is a clear testament to the many benefits of this location in terms of access to a strong employee base and transportation networks,” said Doug Avis, SCDC VP Development & Investment. “With Beedie’s expertise in industrial development and construction, we’re able to offer Weir Canada a facility that will provide a solid foundation for growth well into the future.”

Michael Carrigan, president of Weir Canada Inc., added that out of all the locations across Metro Vancouver, Campbell Heights North best suited the company’s needs.

Notable tenants in the area include Loblaw Companies Ltd., OK Tire and Advanced Wire Products.

Weir Canada will create about 30 new jobs as the new facility is built and has committed to staying in the area for 20 years.
